"easyJet flights from Newcastle to Bristol, Paris and Prague start today [August 1, 2003], taking the number of routes available from the North East to seven.

Details of the three exciting new services are as follows:

Newcastle - Bristol:

Two daily services in each direction. One-way fares including taxes and charges from just 12.99 GBP
Newcastle - Paris Charles de Gaulle:

Daily flight in each direction. One-way fares including taxes and charges from just 17.99 GBP
Newcastle - Prague

Daily flight in each direction. One-way fares including taxes and charges from just 22.99 GBP

Today's launch to Paris, Prague and Bristol follows the start of easyJet services from Newcastle to Barcelona, Alicante and Belfast in March. The airline has quickly established a strong presence in the region, and the four new continental routes boost Newcastle's direct international air links by 50%. The original service to London Stansted also continues to prove very popular with passengers, with four daily flights in each direction.

easyJet has plans to introduce even more low-cost flights to the North East. From this month, the number of aicraft based in Newcastle increases to three, and a fourth is planned for 2004."

Yes, great news for NCL. easyJet are expected to carry about 750,000 people in its first year of operating at NCL, taking the airport pax number to way over 4 million passengers.
New easyJet routes that Id look for in future from NCL would be Malaga,Geneva and Copenhagen.

Nice one!

I wonder how the introduction of the CDG flights will affect FlyBE's services to the city.

Incidentally, FlyBE's cNCL-CDG-NCL service will apparently be operated by CityJet from this October.

The spanish destinations of Malaga, Alicante and Palma are sure to be popular if added in the future as many Brits own property in these areas nowadays. I'm sure many more destinations can be added by EZY from Newcastle in the future. There has been too much scope on Low Cost services from the London area until recently and now the UK regionals are getting their chance.

Alicante is already served from NCL with a Daily Flight Mon-Fri and Sun, and 2 flights on a saturday.
Barcelona is also a popular destination, and now they have competition with Air Scotland also offering a 1 x weekly NCL-BCN service.
