Northwest to Offer New Nonstop Service Between Nagoya, Japan, Saipan and Tokyo
October Flight Schedule Will Offer New Single-Connection Service to Nagoya From Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle, Faster Connections To Saipan

TOKYO, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Northwest Airlines (Nasdaq: NWAC - News) today announced changes to its Asia/Pacific flight schedule that will open up new single-connection service between its U.S. gateways of Honolulu, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York-JFK, San Francisco and Seattle and Nagoya, Japan, with the introduction of new daily nonstop service from Tokyo to Nagoya, as well as new daily nonstop service between Nagoya and Saipan.
The changes, which take effect October 26, 2003, mean that Nagoya customers will gain access to Northwest's Tokyo hub, where they can make a single connection to seven U.S. gateways, and travel to hundreds of destinations worldwide with two connections. Nagoya travelers will also benefit from new nonstop service to Saipan, a popular leisure destination with Japanese vacationers.

Saipan travelers will have access to Northwest's global flight network from three flights including its Saipan-Tokyo nonstop, its new Saipan-Nagoya- Tokyo flight, or by flying Northwest from Saipan to Nagoya, and then connecting to Northwest's nonstop Nagoya-Detroit flight.

In addition, Northwest's new schedule also will dramatically shorten the connection times for Northwest customers traveling from any of the airline's seven U.S. Asia/Pacific gateways to Saipan through its Tokyo hub.

"These new Nagoya and Saipan services demonstrate Northwest's continuing commitment to meeting the changing travel needs of our valued Asia/Pacific customers," said Phil Haan, executive vice president of international, sales and information services. "We look forward to helping more customers 'Fly Nagoya,' as well as growing with the market as a new airport is built." In 2005, the new Centrair Chubu Airport will be opened.

NORTHWEST HAS THE MOST SERVICE TO ASIA

Northwest offers service to more destinations in Asia, more flights to Japan, and more flights to and within Asia than any other U.S. airline. The airline operates a hub from Satellite Two at Tokyo's Narita Airport that connects the U.S. gateways of Detroit, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York-JFK, San Francisco and Seattle to key destinations such as Bangkok, Thailand; Beijing; Busan, South Korea; Guam; Hong Kong; Manila, Philippines; Saipan, Mariana Islands; Seoul, South Korea; Shanghai, China; Singapore and Taipei, Taiwan. Northwest also offers nonstop service from Nagoya, Japan to Detroit and Manila.
