Sultan of Brunei´s gilded HA-MW047, seems to be the former V8-AL1. A very strange registration. Which country uses HA-?

HA stands for Hungaria = Hungary.

And I suppose it's more anonymous with this reg, while the plane is under maintenance.

the reg is most likely V8-AL1, considering the other V8- regs.
I know I got it wrong in at first......

Other V8- VIP regs are V8-BKH and V8-MHB, 747's reg is Alpha Lima India.

Thats funny that they put a fake registration on it. Don´t think it helps though in terms of security.

The spotters at HAM are also puzzled by this strange registration (HA-MW047). It is most likely a fake registration to conceal the real identity of V8-ALI to the public (of course the aviation enthusiasts knows about the aircraft's real identity).

BTW, the aircraft is due to do some flights in the near future before it leaves HAM and gets painted in Royal Brunei c/s somewhere else. So HA-MW047 isn't a military registration either. If the aircraft really takes off with this unique registration, the Kodakchrome slide shooters will get loads of money for their stuff ... Big grin

Being at HAM I'm pretty sure the first three or four letters refer to the place it is right now.

I think most of the general public have no idea what sort of aircraft they are travelling in, let alone the significance of registration numbers. Very strange indeed, as it certainly doesn't fool spotters...
