Ok, I want to learn the stock side of the airlines.

What are all the important airline's stock symbols? I am interested in all the American ones the a few important foreign ones as well.

What sites do you go to on checking the stocks?

Any other input would be good too.

Thanks,

-Phil

I wouldn't advise you to buy airline stock right now, save for jet blue or southwest, maybe.

I just sold my 165 shares of UAL for a paltry sum...about $65 I believe. I purchased the stock after 9/11 for $500 and it briefly rose to about $1500 at its highest point during my ownership. I decided to cut my losses and walk off with $65 rather than wait for the stock to be liquidated under ch. 11 and walk away with nothing.

Go to Cnn.com or Yahoo.com for stock quotes. Most major sites have ticker symbol lookups if you are unsure what the symbol is.

Here's a few I know of the top off my head and check regularly:

Alaska: ALK
Jet Blue: JBLU
Southwest: LUV
Continental: CAL
Delta: DAL
Northwest: NWAC
American: AMR
British Airways: BAB
KLM: KLM
America West: AWA

Remember, these are all traded on NYSE...there are other airlines which trade over the counter, but I don't know their tickers since I don't track them.

I love America. I guess that makes me Bush's poodle, but I'd rather be a dog in New York City than a prince in Riyadh.

This reminds me of a quote of Warren Buffet and I am not sure I am quoting it 100% tho here goes! "If you want to be a millionaire, just invest a Billion dollars in airline stock and soon you will be!"
