And one more piece of news from the same source (FI). Royal Jordanian plans to replace 3 of its 6 A310-300s and all 5 of its A320s due to aircraft age and standardisation policies.

Being considered are 10 A320/A321s or B737-800s. A decision is expected in 2 months and deliveries will begin in 2005.

This was already planned last year but postponed due to the war in Iraq.

So another middle-eastern order this year. Considering the company currently operates A320s, recently introduced A340-200s and will keep some A310s, I presume Airbus is in with a decent chance but stranger things have happened.

Hi Jeremiah,

logically RJ might be better off keeping the Airbus lane. But and don't underestimate this, in the current political situation they might get under political pressure to consider Boeing.

The A 310s are used for all the routes to INDIA and some to the Far East so can RJ's A 320s or B 738s fly nonstop Amman-India esp AMMAN-CALCUTTA (CCU)?

It would be wise for them to order A 320s and A 321s instead.
