I have lately been seeing more DL servie at odd times like 8:34. Why are they doing this, It doesn't appear to make any difference, the runways are just as busy. In fact, its confusing for the passenger.

I don't get it either. Like the planes actually leave on the minute anyhow. They should be rounded to the nearest five minutes for simplicity.

I just noticed this just this morning, as I saw flights leaving @ 8:28, 8:58, etc. But later one this morning, the flight times were the expected 5s and 10s (10:15, 11:30, etc). I thought it odd myself.

Without knowing the specific routes, it'd be difficult to say, but the odd departure times could also potentially give DL favorable treatment in CRS's; if the competition's flight departs at 8:35, Delta's flight would be listed first as departing at 8:34. Purely speculation, though.
