Hi all,

Is there a yahoo group for Paris (all airports) and Frankfurt?

It's my impression that every single UK airport has a yahoo group, but good European groups are difficult to find.

Frederic

Thanks Alpha!

I heard already very positive things about this group, but forgot about the existence of it.

I will try to use my best French if I get involved in a discussion! Big grin

Good question, why is there no FRA group?
One answer: those who have the relevant info (and ramp access) don't like to share to avoid that others get good shots too.
That's why I don't get along with the FRA mafia.

Ok, this is way off topic, but it appears there are some Paris experts here, so I will ask.  Smile Since I don't speak French at all, I can't go look at the Yahoo Group for this info....

I am just curious... if you had a 6 hour layover at CDG, what would you do? I think I have access to the Star Alliance lounges, as I am flying Business on the way through, but from what I hear not many of them have windows. Is there anywhere airside in Terminal 1 that has a good view of the runways? Would like to watch even if not the best views for picture taking. Will probably do a little duty free shopping as well. Just wanted the opinions of some who were familiar with the airport. Thanks!

You have a CDG plan here :

http://www.kerozen.org/s_cdg.html

At Terminal 1 called "Camembert" you can walk outside, and look at planes.

William: since more than 50% of the conversations between you and Antoine existed of 'fils de pute' and 'CMF bastarde', it was not that difficult to understand about what you guys were talking  Big grin

Konstantin: is it really so bad, the attitude of the spotters in FRA? I'm a member of the LHR group, and every day, people check the system and post all the important aircrafts which are due to LHR. Impressive list! And a must for the registration spotters is the full arrivals log you get a few days later.

Frederic,
it is nearly that bad. One example: there is a very good spot from outside the fence for the runway 18 lineup. Now the ramp spotters don't care and just park their car in our way when they want to take the same photo from inside.

When we wrote and asked for more cooperation, they just showed their cold shoulder. This has even led to two factions formed in the local spotter club RMAS (their website www.rmas.de is the only one with SOME info on traffic) And the fact that no such list as for LHR exists simply shows that they're not willing to share info of expected special traffic.

This is really amazing...

Of course the screens in the Lufthansa terminal are nice on which you see the regs of the coming planes, but it's a pitty that nobody posts the full 'DUE' logs you get on the AMS/LHR/MAN/... lists.

Just to add to what Fly-K has said, there are internet forums for almost all German airports, like http://www.cgn-forum.de, http://www.dusforum.de (also for NRN and MGL), http://www.dtm-spot.de, http://www.fmo-spot.de, http://www.haj-spot.de a.s.o. - funnily, to the best of my knowledge no such forum exists for the biggest German airport, FRA, as everything happening at FRA seems to be kept secret by the chosen few....

Maybe, if someone would set up a YAHOO-group, or maybe even a forum, one or even more of those "insiders" would decide to join and then post infos and keeping his identity secret... I mean, maybe there is one "insider" who would like to help but is afraid that the other "insiders" wouldn't approve...

So why not just try it... Yahoo-groups are free, maybe one local spotter can found one and then make it known to the others via a posting on the Civil-Spotters-Group, and then we'll see if it works...

What do you think?

Michael

The guys in that 707 picture really should ge their heads washed, there are surely enough spots between that one and the obs.-platform where such individuals can take pictures without interfering into anyons picture, but maybe that's exactly what they wanted!!!!

Hi!

Just a few weeks ago, a forum for FRA opened, but so far, there are very few members and even fewer postings. It seems that it is not known amongst most regular FRA spotters...

And, Konstantin,

from where did you take that nice picture of John Travolta's 707? The public platform at runway 18?
