Anyone knows if Lan Chile´s new subsidiary Lan Dominicana it´s actually flying its route to Miami from Santo Domingo? There´s a flight between Miami and Punta Cana, but it is operated by Lan Chile. Thanks.

Lan Dominicana is operating with 4 flights or 3 if Im not correct weekly.

They fly the B767-300 ER.

They have a Dominican Crew and Chilean crew on those flights.

The flight arrives MIA at 8 to 9PM, and then leaves headed to LIM or SCL.

It has nice service, and heavy loads.

Now from MIA to SDQ, there are BQ (aeromar) N6 (Aero Continente) and Lan Dominicana, of course AA with 3 flights weekly soon they will put their 4 flight daily.

But from What I have heard Lan Dominicana in October is going to fly daily to SDQ.

With that I meant that they use the same Lan Chile Aircraft.

I dont think Lan Chile has aircraft with other logo than Lan Chile.

Lets see, they have Lan Ecuador, (I dont recall seeing any aircraft with that name).

Lan Peru, (Have not seen any aircraft with that painting also).

All of Lan Chile a/c are painted with Lan Chile colors, any body correct me if Im wrong.

Lan Chile also flies to BOG and CCS, from MIA with scheduled flights.

The thing is to get a government permission to start an airline and registering takes time.

So the answer to your question is that they use Lan Chile aircraft with the Painting of Lan Chile.

I dont know if they are going to use an A320 to cover MIA-SDQ in the fall, but lets see.

LanPeru flies MIA-PUJ while LanDominicana does MIA-SDQ. Eventually, LanDominicana plans on taking over MIA-PUJ. The MIA-PUJ route is the oddest. It is flown by a LanChile 767-300ER, but crewed by a Lima-based crew. It is a LanPeru flight with a LanChile codeshare, although it is operated by LanChile in the first place.

LanChile does MIA-BOG-MIA-SCL (3w), MIA-CUN-SCL (they have tried for ages and still cannot get 5th freedom between Miami and Cancun), MIA-CCS-SCL, and MIA-SCL. LanPeru does MIA-PUJ-LIM-SCL and MIA-LIM-SCL. LanEcuador does MIA-UIO-GYE-MIA. LanDominicana does MIA-SDQ. In the past, LanChile has operated MIA-IQQ-SCL (IQQ=Iquique) during the Chilean ski season. I wouldn't be surprised to see it return in the future, especially as LanChile grows in Miami. Another possibility in the future is LanChile flying MIA-AA), Japan">NRT. After having opened Japanese offices this past year and applying for the rights to fly to Japan, LanChile has not made it a secret they want to enter the Japanese market, and it is obvious Miami offers the best point for them, as LanChile customers can connect to nine destinations via MIA, as well as a multitude of AA codeshare flights. LanChile also codeshares with American Airlines and Alaska Airlines from Miami. A little known fact is that LanChile is actually based in Miami. The parent company that owns them, LanChile Airlines, Inc., is based in Santiago de Chile.

B752Fanatic:

LanPeru has their A320s wearing the LanPeru title. I don't know about LanEcuador or LanDominicana.

MAH4546:

I knew about the MIA-IQQ-SCL flight and I never understood it. Why did it stop in Iquique? Iquique is not a large city (200.000 inhabitants) and has no ski centers. So why did Lan operate this route?

And about Japan...is LanChile planning to fly to Japan with its own equipment or in codeshare with AA, using AA aircraft? This are big news, so pleaseif you can give me further information i will be thankful...

Yes, you are right about the sking, I was comfusing it with another city. However, Iquique is still one of the most visted cities in Chile, and is often a starting point for those taking the complete tour of Chile, starting up north and going south to Santiago de Chile. It is a city rich in history and culture.

Ok....

thanks a lot for the information about LanDominicana. And, what a surprise the good news that LanChile is planning a new route to Japan, troughout Miami, or elsewhere.

In addition, Lan Peru is actually operating with its own logo, the same logo and colors of LanChile of course, and an all peruvian crew.

Now, about Lan Ecuador, i know they are planning routes from Guayaquil to Madrid, Buenos Aires and Santiago.

Lets faceit, Lan Chile is trying to be LanAmerica! or am I wrong?

Iquique is also an important port in Chile. A lot of the comercial trade between Chile and the rest of the World takes place in Iquique, especially between Chile and North Amercia, Asia, and Australia. So no wonder why there are direct routes between USA and IQQ

I'm sorry guys, but I still don't get it...

Iquique is, in terms of movement and cargo, the 16th port of Chile.
Maybe their strength is based in mining, due to the impressive mining activity, but again, most of mineral products being exported from Chile leave by Mejillones port or Antofagasta's, so there is no great economic activity in Iquique.
And in terms of tourism,Iquique is known just internally here,so please...give a reason for that flight!

Thanks in advance

Wow, amazing to see that LanChile is still expanding across the Americas! I have not gotten the chance yet to fly with LanChile nor its subsidiaries, but it is wonderful to see a carrier with great reputation like LA to expand across Latin America. I did see LanDominicana uses 767-300 from MIA-SDQ on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Flight 4M 694 departs SDQ at 1825 and arrives MIA at 2230. Flight 4M 695 departs MIA at 1520 arrivng SDQ at 1725.

Mia777,

Yes, yes it is. Lan Chile´s headquarters in Miami are located at 9700 South Dixie Hwy.

Actually, Lan Chile and its subsidiaries are the first non-US operator at Miami International Airport, where´s a big facility of LanChile (Lan Cargo mostly).

Yes, Mia777, that building in Dadeland near Williamson Cadillac-Hummer is LanChile's airline operations' world headquarters.

MAH4546,
Lan Chile´s world headquarters are located at Santiago, very close to Arturo Merino Benitez Int´l Airport (SCL) in a brand new top of the art building.
