Once upon a time, after the NE merger, DL had extensive jet service throughout New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. MHT and PWM seem to be the remnants. Actually MHT was abandoned for a while, only to return more recently.
Can anyone name all the cities DL served with mainline jets in NH, VT, MA, and ME?

It looks like your memory serves you well.
DL Mainline service actually does not seem to be too different that what we see today given changes in the industry. Thumbing through my April 1999 timetable, I find mainline (incl DLX and Song):

Delta flew PVD-BGR with an MD-88 up until 2000 or so. It was an evening departure around 8:15.

Some of those above former NE cities were served with FH-227 propjet service. I know Keene, NH and New Bedford, MA were FH-227s. I do remember seeing a DL DC-9 taking off out of Hyannis one summer, I believe it was '73. I was eating dinner at a restaurant with my parents, directly across from Barnstable Airport. Don't ask me why I remember that....LOL!! For some reason, I CAN'T remember the name of the restaurant, though.

Not looking at current service. I'm thinking of service in the 1970's. All those DC-9's between ACK and HYA!

Does BGR still have mainline DL jet service? I remember the flight that operated PBI-ATL-PVD-BGR a few years back. I always thought it kind of odd that the Northeast Yellowbirds never flew thru PVD, yet they served New Bedford (EWB), Hyannis (HYA), and Worcester (ORH).

My memories:
MHT was Grenier Field, and I think all that passed through were Northeast DC-9s...not their 727s. (And, as an aside, did you know that Northeast was going to be one of the first to use the L1011? Of course, the carrier never took them up because Delta swooped Northeast up).
I also recall seeing Northeast using Hanscom field for DC-9 touch and go practice. I lived in Concord, Mass. at the time and recalled seeing those DC-9s in the 1970s.
Finally, not mentioned was Delta using 757s between Portland and Boston among their half-dozen or so daily nonstops back in the 1980s/1990s. I believe the 757 was also used on occasion between PWM-LGA and between PWM-CVG.

Business Express/Delta Connection used to fly PSM-BOS with Shorts 360's and Saab 340's up until the mid 90's. Also, I believe they did a couple of Saab nonstops to LaGuardia. Definetely Boston though.
