Can anyone explain the LH fleet...?
Lufthansa operatates 330s from old Sabena fleet, LH also operates B767 from Lauda (I think)?
Why these extra aircrafts?
Due increasing demand?
The B744 & A340 are too big for LH routes?
Which routes for A330 resp. B767?
For how long will they use them?
They still have the Sabena seats and interiors and the B767s have the new Star Alliance livery.

LH leased 2 ex SN A330-200s, 2 ex SN A340-300s and 3 ex Swissair A330-200s as a temporary replacement for the 6 A340-200s, which are being phased out (going to South African). They will leave the fleet once LH takes delivery of the A330-300s, 10 of which have been ordered.
Don't know about the 767s. LH is opening quite a few new long-haul flights these days, I believe, esp. from MUC.

Even more interesting to find out if it is cheaper to lease additional aircraft and leave some 747-200 parked in the dessert.
Also: Are there any more LH long-haul aircraft stored or are all back in service (except the classic 747)?

LH operates the 767 on the FRA-PHX routes currently, MUC does not see any other service than A340-300 (only MUC-BOS will temporarily switch to A332 Sep-Oct).
As far as I am informed, all long-haul aircraft are in service except the two SN-A340-300.
The A330-200 will stay until 2005 I am told. LH seems very satisfied with that aircraft, so we might see some order in the future.

I saw them actif on July 5 + 6 in FRA.
Are they std in the meantime?
The only stored long haul plane I saw at FRA was an A332 (D-AIME I believe, have to look it up in my logs). It was stored in the corner where the cargo's come, and were the SA A346 + QF B744 are parked (I saw it when I took the bus to the QF B744 + SA A346 to get their registration).
