Both Air India and Indian Airlines operate numerous flights with one stop enroute. For instance, AI routes Mumbai-Riyadh-Jeddah. Is the airline able to carry passengers and cargo on the Riyadh-Jeddah sector? As another example, Indian Airlines routes Delhi-Bangkok-Singapore. Is the carrier able to carry passengers and cargo on the Bangkok-Singapore leg? Are both airlines allowed to carry passengers and cargo between B and C and C and B on all of their one-stop flights where the stop is in a different country? If this is possible, what are the loads like (examples preferred)?

No they dont. The only routing from India to JED that makes a stop en route is AI 807 via KWI. There are no local rights on KWI-JED.

The current Air India 5th freedom traffic rights in use are :

London LHR to New York JFK vv
London LHR to Chicago ORD vv
Paris CDG to Newark EWR vv
Singapore SIN to Jakarta CGK vv
Singapore SIN to Kuala Lumpur KUL vv
Bangkok BKK to Tokyo NRT vv
Hong Kong HKG to Osaka KIX vv
Doha DOH to Bahrain BAH vv
Abu Dhabi AUH to Muscat MCT vv

Indian Airlines holds full 5th freedom traffic rights in use on :

Bangkok BKK to Singapore SIN vv

AI is allowed to carry passengers on the LHR-JFK leg of its BOM-DEL-LHR-JFK flights, and the CDG-NWR leg of its BOM-DEL-CDG-NWR sectors so I guess they must be able to do so between Riyadh and Jeddah.
Cannot confirm though. Maybe different rules apply

Never argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

B744, you're wrong: if you go to http://202.54.16.146/servlet/olsWeeklySchInfo, you'll see that 4 of AI's 7 weekly flights from BOM to JED have one-stop enroute. These stop in various places, including KWI (#807) but not Riyadh as I wrongly stated.

Pe@rson, you really should know better than to argue Air India with me!  Smile

I said that the only flight from INDIA to Jeddah with an enroute stop is AI 807 via KWI.

The flights from BOM to JED stop at DEL/HYD/CCJ all of which are within India.

I had flown SIN BKK on Indian Airlines more than a year ago. That time the flight was only half full but as I was monitoring the flight till the day before, I knew that Bangkok Delhi was full! Singapore Bangkok there were about 20 people all together but the flight is used by many big Indian outbound tour operators who offer MAA - SIN-BKK-MAA/ DEL - BKK-SIN and vv tours using Indian Airlines who also offer a triangular fare for indiviual [passengers (the one I used) which is a great "deal" if you want to touch both SIN and BKK in the same trip.

Cheers

I guess I should add Frankfurt FRA to Chicago ORD to my list of AI 5th freedom rights. New service on that route commences on December 4.

Has the route to LAX been finalized or is it still in the works? Is there a set date for commencement of service on that route yet? There will be 5th freedom rights on that one as well right (assuming it does materialize)?

Thanks.

I've flown on 9V-SPK.
