I read a while back that UPS uptated a few of there 722's with semi-EFIS flightdecks and new RR powerplants. The aircraft were to fly revenue pax service by day and cargo by night.

Anyone know if they are still operating pax service, if no, what happened?

If I'm not mistaken, they all are RR-TAY powered and all have the semi-efis.

They no longer are in the pax charter business. It was a short lived venture.

I seem to recall that only the 721s were converted to RR powerplants. They only had 8 722s, and those still had the JT8D engines. All 8 were retired after 9/11 for fleet simplification reasons, and i believe some have been sold.

I read some years back that UPS wanted to use some 72s to operate weekend charter services. However, as far as I know this venture was only a pipe dream on paper and never a reality.

They did get off the ground with a configured 727-100 but it didnt last long. The plane was a common sight at BWI apparently, and the UPS service was supposed to actually be pretty decent!! They came around with snack baskets with lots of things to choose from. The seats were blue cloth, legroom was 31". I believe the flights were operated on behalf of Apple..
