I flew with them round trip from Lax-AMS. That had to be the worst airline I have ever flew on. I was on an MD11. The service, food, and entertainment was bad. Please tell me some details on your trip with them.

Apparently, opinions differ. I also flew them on LAX-AMS-LAX about three years ago (before the axed this route) and actually I found the flight quite good, compared to the cheap ticket prices. You get what you pay for Two hot meals (dinner, two choices and breakfast), newpapers, two movies on a main screen (no PVT's), pillows and blankets. Not Singapore Airlines, but no worse than NW in coach accross the Atlantic!

it was ok. i'm more impressed with efficiency and punctuality than i am with frills. as long as the toilets work and don't smell and my seat reclines, i'm generally happy. martinair is all coach class and it's high-high-high density seating...very cramped. not enough bin space in the cabin. the food was about average. there was no entertainment because something was "out". but it was non-stop @ 550mph. i survived. i'd use their service again.
Tired of airline bankruptcies....EA/PA/TW and finally DL.

I used Martinair a lot on their AMS-MIA flight. That was when KLM did not service MIA yet. The flight arrived in the early afternoon and my connecting AA flight to LPB left always in the late evening, which left me six hours to spend in Miami. Not bad.
I have good memories of Martinair. If you are a typical "business traveler" you will probably not like Martinair. Their flights are always full, seat pitch is cramped (they get 512 seats in a 747-200) but the atmosphere on board is always loose and fun (a bit like Virgin Atlantic if you know what I mean). Lots of people flying to their vacation destinations and attractive flight attendants doing a good job and speaking an amazing number of languages. They are also very nice to kids, giving them special attention and offering them toys and special meals. Not many delays (at least I did not experience many) and cheap, very cheap.
I you fly Martinair intercontinental you will most probably end up in a 767 or a MD-11. The first couple of rows on their intercontinental flights are called "Star Class". This is their business class. It is not bad but not comparable to the more well known carriers business classes.
