Out Of ORD and MDW, Which do you like better? I personally like MDW better because it is closer to my house and it is easy to get around.

Meigs/...oops thanks Mr.Ego I mean Mr.Daley....Well ORD is much better at spotting but for shops MDW is better. At ORD they seem only to add Mcdonalds which sucks..ORD has plenty of conections etc.....And its just as easy to get in and out of than MDW.....

O'hare all the way! I have sentimental reasons for feeling this way. When I was very young I was taken out to the building site when ORD was just a darkened, glassless hulk. The original terminals were built but it was still a few months away from opening. It has grown into one of the world's great airports. For all its hugeness it is very efficient and pleasant to be in. The international terminal is the best in America, in my opinion, and in spite of the surfeit of McDonald's there is still a very good restaurant, it used to be called the Tartan Tray, now it is a "fancy" restaurant in the old TWA terminal, now American, where the views of the runways and terminals is spectacular.

Midway is much-improved and much-needed but it's an also-ran in the modern annals of Chicago aviation. In the old days it was exciting with all the Boeing 337s and Connies, now it's just a bus terminal for the LCCs. Watch the Hitchcock film 'North by Northwest' for great tarmac shots at night!

Meigs never met its potential, only Ozark flew a few FH7s into it at one time, now it is destined to become the Richard Daley jnr Memorial casino and dumping pier. Meigs COULD have been like London's City Airport had the city managers suppressed their personal financial interests and opted to act in the public's best interests instead. So goes Chicagi politics.

Hmmmm hard one to say.

I love the great backgrounds for photography at MDW with the planes landing right over neighborhoods. I like the variety of airlines at ORD.

It would be neat to combine the two... just too bad MDW is so small, it would be so cool to see a 744, 772 or a A340 buzzing those neighborhoods around Midway.

I would like suggeestions question about best airport is ORD and it was much bigger airport ever had once before. I flew to Chicago trip from last month of July 24 through July 27 and those are very nice time for us. I been flown on Delta for us and got alot of those skymiles. Got problems of the my flight delayed due for the weather in ORD of July 27 bound to ATL flight. And also, I was missed that one on B764 aircraft to FLL and got on the next flight at 6:55pm on B763 aircraft. Well, talk ya later!  Smile

Since I'm a mileage whore with UA, I have to say ORD! Love having to make that speed run from C-29 to B-16 in 20 min! Great cardio workout! Aside from that, love spotting and flying in and out of ORD!

I used to enjoy MDW when it was the old Midway not that they built the new terminal its not that great. Even though the old terminal was dirty and smelly I really did enjoy sitting there close to the ground when you could see how big the planes were while on a 15 hour delay w/ ATA.

The shots of the NW B-377 at MDW, then CHI, in North by Northwest are fantastic; however OZ never flew FH-227B or F-27's into Meigs. They operated DH-6 Twin Otters from CGX to SPI for a short period of time.

ORD due to its convenience and the size of their ops.

I enjoy MDW more only because it is easier to navigate (smaller) and is much closer and more accessible to/from the central city.

I like MDW because it's easier to get in and out of, but ORD takes the cake for actually being able to go places. Plus, my beloved Star Alliance is there...

I prefer Midway, it just seems like everytime I fly into or out of O'Hare there are delays of one sort or another. Midway's new terminals (I flew there at the end of May) are very nice and the airport is just easier to move around in and get in and out of. I've never experienced the delays at MDW that I've experienced at ORD.

Gary/Chicago! Beautiful neighborhood, quaint terminal and a nice quiet airfield without all those noisy jets disturbing you.

***Enough Sarcasm***

I used to LOVE ORD pre and post deregulation but before the merger madness of '85-'87. I could always get a ton of timetables from about every carrier in the US it seemed, plus a few international ones if I had time to trek down to the old International terminal. The aforementioned restaurant above the rotunda in the old TWA concourse was great for watching aircraft. Last time at ORD it was nothing but UA/AA and the rest of the big 6. I find MDW much more interesting these days, and have visited during several phases of the terminal replacement/upgrade program. Love the revitalization going on there. And of course, the convenience to the Loop, the landings/takeoffs make MDW my current favorite.
