Some Excellent News And Rumors In BOI

Ok, first of all, if I am annoying anyone on this, just tell me, and I'll stop. Here is goes...

Very possible rumor:
I have been hearing Evergreen is converting their 747s into fire bombers. I thought it was ludicrous, because I never thought a 747 could be used for fire bombing, but I also heard that they are already doing construction on the 747s already. Which means BOI could possibly see a couple 747s parked for fire bombing during the summer, and possibly the whole year.

Possible rumor:
Alaska just got clearence to build a new Concourse A with the new terminal in BOI which will be a mirror image of Concourse B on the other side of the Food Court. I hear Alaska and Horizon just bought a ton of gates, AS and QX will re-open the BOI domicile, and both QX and AS will expand throughout Boise, again. I also hear that the Horizon CRJs and Alaska aircraft will be parked at jetways, while Big Sky, and Horizon Q400s will use the passenger walkways situated on the floor below the Food Court(Concourse C).

I hope all rumors will come true and AS, and QX will expand in BOI, again, as I already said, and Evergreen will bring in 747s. I took a picture of the map of the complete expansion of the terminal when every thing is done, but I don't know how to post it because it isn't on the web. The BOI old terminal is now demolished and it looks like an earthquake just hit. Here are some of the things BOI will be getting...

A new expanded part of the project is now being built as an expansion of the main terminal that is already opened.

A new runway for military aircraft use.

Around 10 new gates plus a couple more parking spaces

The whole thing will add another concourse making the Boise terminal a three concourse terminal instead of just two concourses.

I am also hearing rumors that a new cargo space project will start soon, but I doubt that will happen since BOI has enough spaces already to my understanding.

The security corridor will include state-of-the-art technology...hopefully no body searches...yeah right Smile/happy/getting dizzy.

A food court with McDonald's, Maui Tacos(Where else can you get them other then BOI?), cafes, and gift shops.

Once again, if I annoy anyone by stating rumors, and such and such, please tell me to stop. For some reason I  Love bragging about BOI, hence the name.

I  Love BOI

Maui Tacos....say no more...I'm there!

A runway for military aircraft? Related to Mountain Home AFB perhaps?

That would be interesting to see...a 747 dropping fire retardant on forest fires...stranger things have happened.

Rumors are rumors. Don't know the source. Time will tell.

Actually, Steve, Boise Airport is like, half military base, part private aircraft, and part pax aircraft. Boise has a large number of military aircraft(Mainly C-130s and A-10 Warthogs. Just so ya know.

Edit: CanyonBlue, here are the estimated statistics

Boise City Population: 190,000
Boise Metro: somewhere between 480,000-500,000
Boise Airport Service Area: somewhere between 550,000-600,000
Hope that helps

"Maui Tacos(Where else can you get them other then BOI?),"

They have them at Newark Liberty International Airport, CO's new C-3 concourse to be exact. Though I have yet to try them.

Alaska starting a domicile there? I'd see a Bay Area one first, and a pilot one in PDX before BOI, honestly. I can see QX restarting BOI-SFO if they could just get the schedule right. Maybe DEN service. The Alaska Air Group has done well in DEN.

Maui Tacos? Gosh!!!!! With names like that I just got the idea to start Chihuahua Pizza or Nebraska Enchiladas LOL.

I always thought Boise was a bit larger than that. But anyways, way to go !

I always enjoy my trips to BOI.

I have family that works for Hewlett Packard they live close to the airport off Federal Way.

Is most of that ongoing construction now over with? And I can't wait to see the new terminal. Always thought the old one was boring and bland but functional.

Boise is a lovely city and as said before, I always enjoy my visits.

Maui Taco's is disgusting. I stopped eating at the MSP airport location. The employees are aloof, uncaring, and full of 'tude.
I LOVE Mexican food but the only thing good there is the salsa bar. The meat in their tacos has the consistency and smell of dog food. I am not exaggerating of joking.
the food court in IND has a great Mexican restaurant. Oh. BOI is a good layover!

I would like to visit Boise, but it's difficult to get there via Southwest from MDW. I thought they would have expanded further over the past few years, but new flights haven't been added in some time now. (Correct me if I'm mistaken.)

Here's hoping that the scene improves for you Idaho folk. ATA's entry would be a big boon for BOI travelers.

I've been to 42 states, but not Idaho or Montana. Some day...

I heard that the new cargo ramp has been shelved for now. Again, just a rumour, but from a pretty reliable source. Orginally I heard the plan was to build a cargo ramp on the unused site near Gowen Field, opposite of Western Aircraft. They were planning to move FedEx, UPS, and ABX all together. It does seem rather unlikely, what with UPS's newer building. Hey ILoveBOI, have they finished the two level drive up entrance yet? Last time I was in BOI, the old terminal was still up. Can't imagine what it looks like now.

Oh yeah, Mikeclod, you have to see it to believe it. Yes, the airport now has two level road system, the new terminal is open and there are still a lot of things needed to be done. However, they HAVE demolished the old terminal a while ago. The airport is based on a river theme. It is sooooo awesome. Yet they still have to complete security corridor, food court, new Concourse C, etc.
