This is probably a popular topic, but...

It seems there has been a major consolidation in US airlines since deregulation. Deregulation still seems to have some major implications today in the airline as well as other industries. Talking heads always point to airline deregulation whether they are arguing for or against deregulation in another industry. Two questions for discussion...

1) What were some pros and cons of deregulation at the time it commenced?

2) What other pros and cons have been discovered since deregulation that weren't forseen at the time?

one word: price. prices are much lower than under regulation, as now airlines compete on airfares.
