Is Swiss going to fly their new A340-300's to the U.S.? If so when and where?

Hello

The A-340 is replacing the MD-11 fleet so I guess the A-340 will be used on all routes currently served by MD-11s. In the US Los Angeles is served by MD11s as well as some JFK flights.

Regards,
RJ100

More or less: the destinations flown with MD-11 today will be operated by A343 in the future. For the US this means, that LAX will be operated with A343, apparently starting late this year.

Cheers
Gerardo

Hi!

In the old SWISS page there was a schedule for introduction of the 343 in SWISS schedule.
Not all US destinations will be served regulary with the new 343. The first one to be served is infact LAX starting on the 27st. November. The 2nd. and last will be JFK in January 2004.
I believe JFK will be served by the 343 is to show the flagship to the most popular airport in USA, normally all the airlines like to fly to JFK with their latest airliner. But I also think besides LAX SWISS 343 will eventually fly once in a while to other US destinations.
Regards

Swiss will put the A340 on four routes to the USA by next march.
LAX starting in Nov.
JFK in Jan 04
ORD in Feb 04

and there has been speculation about MIA by March. The LAX, JFK and ORD flights are all on the time tables.

Wow that's a nice looking bird. Did they end up going with the brown interior schemes that their original cabin renderings contained? There are no LX A340 cabin shots on airliners.net.

It's a new day. Every moment matters. Now, more than ever.

hey DeltaSFO,

Yea, the aircraft has brown seating - quite nice in person!
I took some photos of LX's a340 cabin recently. I will post some photos for you on the forum later on.
