Based on my recent experiences with UA, I give their employees high marks for friendly professionalism and efficiency. The unfortunate reality is that the fate of UA and its employees is in the hands of management who have shown no evidence to indicate that they "get it."

////UNITED IS RISING
////NOW MORE THAN EVER, FLY THE FRIENDLY SKIES!!!
I just want to say thank you to all of the great people who make up the greatest airline! I have been flying your airline for many years and have had many wonderful memories flying them. I also have many family members who work at UA that help make it great, and many family members who have retired from UA. I look forward for all the memories that will happen in the future as a passenger and future UA pilot!

Thanks for this post!
I too get VERY TIRED of all the negativity about UA on this website, so this is very refreshing. United has always been a part of my life, and I expect it always will be....some of my favorite memories are directly/indirectly related to UA!
There was an announcement today by UA (posted on the website) that they are allowing MP upgrades without having to use additional miles, effective immediately.
I'm optimistic for their future for a number of reasons:
- steadily increasing cash balance
- cash burn has steadily been DECREASING
- rejection of costly contracts/leases
- resumption of full service to Asia and strong Star Alliance ties
- recent turnover at the executive ranks...rotten apples like Andy Studdert, etc. are GONE!!!!
- operational performance
- reports that inflight service is improving (4 recent flights of mine were Great!)
Could go on and on...
////UNITED IS RISING once again, and look out for those in the way!
I love United. I've got a photo album of UAL in my profile. They're basically the only airline that I fly (being out of LAX) but I believe they've really got a lot going for them despite their financial situation-a great global network, great strides in customer service, a lot of innovation... they're really on their way to recovery.

I agree wholeheartedly with everyone's comments. Many, many of the employees of United, like the employees of every other airline, are hardworking and dedicated, but are undermined by upper management who just "don't get it". No commentary on the current management, who have a nearly impossible job to do, and are somehow powering through many obstacles.
I've worked for UA for 9 years, and I'm proud of the job that I do, and the airline I work for. Every single day. It infuriates me when various unions start unofficial "job actions", or when lazy employees make UA look bad.

B747-437B.... that was friggin' hilarious!
Anyways, here's hoping for UA. If they pull through, great... if not, they'll join the ranks of their former peers PanAm, TWA, and Eastern in history. Not so horrible an outcome either way (for those of us not employed by the airline anyways)

I have had many great experiences with United on both domestic and international flights. It is my choice of airline for several reasons:
1. It has the best international networks among all U.S. carriers.
2. I like its services and the flight attendants are always friendly.
3. It is in the largest alliance that gives me even more choice of destinations.
I wish United all the best and hope it emerges from Chapter 11 soon.

Thanks to everyone supporting us through this tough time. It is nice to see people want to see UAL live on for many years. I love my job and I hope my airline lives on. Thanks again for the kind words and support.

I like UAL, I grew up flying UAL till I started with CAL. I just think some of their employees in ORD can be at times unfriendly, but then you look at our EWR employees, and it can at times make them look like angels!!!!
I always wanted to work for UAL as well, till I started with CAL, always nice airports. ORD, DEN, SFO, LAX, I still enjoy flying UAL.
okay, I'm waiting for the rich to spread the wealth around to me. Please mail your checks to my house.

I have always loved United. The excellent crew, great service(pre 9-11), great memories. I loved the A320, DC-10, and 777 in their New Colors. Let's also not forget the stunning appearance of the old colors on the 727!
PS: Someone also tell me the thing B747-437B did that was so funny, could someone link me up to the original post? If not, tell me what happened, please!

Concordeboy, way to kick em in the teeth.
Most of the UA staff have undergone a rotten couple of years from seeing their friends die in New York and Pennsylvania to seeing their fleet slashed, their jobs threatened, had their pay cut and on and on.
I haven't had the best experiences on United, (their trans-pacific folks did a good job though) but try not to add insult to injury as it were. They already know they went bankrupt and seeing all those Boeings rotting the desert is painful to the people that flew them and maintained them. Shoving it in their faces when they are trying to cheer themselves up is not the act of an honorable person.

When I was 5 years old, me, my father and grandfather went plane-spotting at O'Hare. We were parked on Irving Park Rd and I will never forget how close that United 747-200 was to us. After that experience, I have been a United Airlines fanatic. United will always be Chicago's Hometown Airline and my first airline of choice for air travel. May God Bless all of the United Airlines Family.
