Yeah Stas and Guys,

Tomorrow is a very special day to all Russian people (men, predominantly). The 23th of February is the Russian ARMY DAY. All military objects: divisions, air-bases, shipyards, space stations, etc. are going to celebrate this day.

According to tradition, there will probably be some military aircraft displays over big cities. Moscow may even see tanks, missile-carriers and soldiers marching through the Red Square, in the center of Moscow (or was that only for 9th May, Stas?).

Stas, you gonna wear your uniform - KEWL. I wish I had one, a pilot one... :). But I can say definitely that all the Russian students I know here are gonna celebrate this holiday. Mozhno predstavit' - "Hm-hm, a seichas tost za nashy ARMIUUUU!". (Heh, a kak priziv, tak vse kto guda... :-) ).

SLYJY SOVETSKOMY SOUZY!

P.S. Sorry everyone to whom this doesn't apply, it really wasn't meant to "flood" the forum or anything. Have a good one... :)

I do not think that writing in Russian language is making the Russians popular in this forum. Promoting their army day neither !!
Or is there another cold war coming up perhaps ?
Danny C
PS: What if everybody starts writing in their own language ??

No, no... who mentioned the Cold War? Nobody. We've had enough of that and I beleive nobody wants it to return.

Neither did we intend to make ourselves "popular" by speaking Russian. I hope most of the forum underststand that.

While we're here, in US or UK or any other country, we're constantly being exposed to local national celebrations and I think that's not a bad thing. I mean, you know more about people, share their joy and stuff...

Besides, the more celebrations the better :).

P.S. There's no point in starting to write in different languages, as it vanishes all the purpose of a forum/msg board or similar. But sometimes there're little words/phrases that contain meaning only in the original language, that's only why you saw some Russian sentences there...

I understand A1ex and I don't see any problem. I've made the same with 767-300ER. He's from Brasil and I've said to him only "Hi, thanks for your email, best regards" in portuguese.
Ofcourse the main idea of the post was other and it was written in english (inspite my english is not the best:)

It is nice to now about other countries and tradition. Think if it was not for Russia Vodka would not be as popular and I think you need a drink to calm down as that was no big deal what they were doing.

Maybe I do need a drink !
And please do not get me wrong, I am the first person to defend the Russians. I just thought that this forum was not the place to display traditions. But I must be wrong. Sorry
