In the same flavor as the Brazillian nostalgia topic, here are some skeletons from the past, California natives as well as some distinguished "guests" that I reminisce seeing here at the various airports here in SoCal, from my childhood to the mid 90's:

You forgot Western DC-10
Seriously though, when did Air California change it's name to Air Cal? And why? Sounded more hipper?

That Western livery is a bit before my time, as was Air California and Hughes Airwest, which is why I didn't include them even though they would fit in. I only included those planes that I have distinct memories of seeing.
My interest in airplanes was sparked in September 1983 a month before my 10th birthday, when my dad took me to the Ontario Airshow. From that day on, I was nuts about planes. I still remember that day with crystal clear clarity: the C-5 Galaxy, the C-141, the AirCal 737-200, the Federal Express 727-100, the UPS DC-8, and the USAF KC-10.
Funny thing is up until that day, I couldn't care less about airplanes.

Very nice collection of photos., Matt You should have a look at the photoalbums I've made of classic shots from SAN, LAX, and SFO (in my profile). My interest in planes started around 1978 with very frequent trips to SAN and occasional trips to LAX, so I remember Hughes Airwest and Air California well. Unfortunately just a little too late to remember the Electras flying up to Tahoe or to see United jets in the Friendship scheme.

To 727lover:
After checking out some old time schedules with AirCal/Air California,
the change of name came around 1981/82.Also change of owners
occurred when the name change happen,I believe.
