Continental are an example of an airline that use the 757 across the atlantic yet entertainment is delivered via the usual overhead screens in the aisle. Is it not possible to fit this type of aircraft with ptv's or does it just not make sense financially?

Very interesting question! CO is flying regularly with their 757's transatlantic routes, so it would make sense to offer passengers the same (entertainment) service like on other aircraft types which are scheduled on transatlantic flights (762, 777).

Delta will be installing PTVs into their Song 757s.

Tekelberry is correct and now when I think about it, JetBlue has also PTV's in their 320, technically it should be possible, also on small planes. Maybe CO don't install them on their 757 fleet to be flexible, the 757 is flying within the USA and international, so they need not to separate between "international 757 with PTV's" and "National 757 without PTV's" in their network planning.

They already have two 757-200 types. The domestic ones with first class and the international ones with BusinessFirst.

Thanks for the information MAH4546, I didn't know that CO is already flying with two 757 types. Now it would make sense for me to install PTV's on the international flying 757's.

FYI: There ARE PTVs fitted in the BusinessFirst cabin of CO's international B757s. PTVs can easily be fitted to narrowbody types. They are so fitted on the A320 aircraft of Jetblue, Frontier, and are being fitted to the 737NG fleet of WestJet in Canada. MEA takes it one step forward with AVOD fitted at all seats for its A321 medium-range fleet.

Many airlines that have transatlantic 767 service have no PTVs.

AAs 767 do not on longg flights such as the 11 hour JFK-EZE or 9 Hour MIA-MAD.

I don't think a PTV is an absolute need... in fact, if AA's 767s had PTVs in coach ten i'd never have a good reason to fly buisness...
