I did a search in the database on the MD-10 and only found one pic that shows a MD-10 outside the US. It was taken in Venice,Italy were some of the conversion work was done. Does FX even operate the MD-10 on international routes outside the US? I mean it's pretty easy to mistake the MD-10 with DC-10, so the database maybe isn't the best base for research.

So any ops out of CDG or Subic Bay?
Is the MD-10 conversion program still offered?
Are the hours set back to the -zero- after the conversion?

I do not believe Fedex flies the MD-10 outside the US. The MD-10 is basically a DC-10-10, so it range is limited. For that matter I have not seen a Fedex DC-10-30 overseas either for a while.

I believe the MD-11 is used to connect the US with Europe and Asia. Airbus A310/A300 equipment are based both in Europe and Asia for inter regional flights.

The program is definitely still offered, Boeing takes responsibility then subcontracts where necessary.

I was beside myself with anticipation when I first heard FedEx's decision to convert regarding what Northwest would do.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

The MD-10 conversion program is being applied to both the DC-10-10 and DC-10-30 fleets at Fedex.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

If I recall correctly FedEx will convert 70 of their DC-10s to MD-10s. They also have another 50 on options.

On July 12 of this year N388FE DC10-10F 46622/144 '388' was converted to MD10 in Europe and flown to the US via the UK.
Today MD10 (N311FE) flew over my house (in Canada) from Chicago to Anchorage (flight FE0083). Before that it was the N303FE N312FE and N377FE.
I have not seen one that continued on to the Orient for a long time.

WHen I left fedex over a year ago, i think there was one flight a week to Asia that was a DC-10-30 (FDX0019 on saturdays) and one muliple times a week from IND o STN and CDG. Think it as FDX0010.

YOU probably won't see MD-10's fly international (wih the exception of thats the only plane they have available in a pinch) because you will most likely need to carry a 3 man crew due to FAA regs (Over 8 needs 3 etc...). This works for the MD-11 since its somewhat larger and more efficient,, but the MD-10's are basicly working the same as a standard DC-10.

I think when i was leaving there were plans to convert all the DC-10 int'l flying (except South America) to MD-11's.
