I was waiting to shoot this one as Flight Tracker said it was arriving before dark (days are getting shorter) now..everything is out of wack..I wannna see if we can expect a day time arrival as well as a daytime departure (never for an SQ 777 out of LAX)..that's why the question. Anyone with additional info?

Thanx in Adv.

According to SIA's website, SQ30 (scheduled to arrive 9/10) will arrive LAX 9/11 at 8:43 am and the return SQ29 will depart on 9/11 at 10:15 am.

Good luck. Looking forward to see the pictures.

Oh dear... passenger yields are falling? I presume they are using the 9V-SVx series across the pond.

They changed to the B777 just just before Taiwan was removed from the SARS affected countries list from the top of my head. If not, should be around that time.

Yeap the 9V-SVx are serving this flight. Seems that there's no first class demand on this route?

Hope that SQ 2 remains the B744... at least one Singapore jumbo crossing the pond please!  Big grin

Seems Mr Yip have forgotten the NRT - LAX route.  Laugh out loud People could always choose that alternative to fly in F, just like SQ1/2 provides F while the ICN - SFO flight doesn't.

Surely, SQ1/2 will always remain the B744. Business have picked up a lot for HKG, just hope that the isolated SARS case won't bring much affect.

Cheers

B777s have been opertaing the SIN-TPE-LAX route for a few months already. It may revert back to the B744 in October. Although the loads are high the yields are low so a decision has yet to be made. If it does revert back to the B744 you may see the B777s redeployed on the SIN-FRA-EWR route.

The SQ and SR series B777s have the fuel capacity to operate the route but they do not have the higher certified take-off weight required. They also do not have horizontal crew rest which is required on both the trans-pac sectors.

In case anyones interested SIA Cargo will be adding Kuwait to their list of destinations. Flights will continue on to either Amsterdam or Brussels.

SIA cargo is said to be evaluating daily services to BRU/AMS and FRA and dropping all other presently served destinations - they will instead be served by truck

Personally, I hope that the 777 stays on SQ29/30. Nicer seats, and a different aircraft, rather than the 747-400!

Let's just blame it on yields.

Thanks Ejazz for the information.

Well if it's a birdstrike can't blame the authorities but many pilots I've spoke to before didn't like Chiang Kai-Shek airpirt very much...
