has the aeroflot flight from SFO always stopped at SEA on its way to SVO? why is there a stop? it seems there is a big enough russian community to warrant a nonstop.

Pretty sure they have had a nonstop in the past-- or at least the OAG showed it nonstop. With the Ilyushin 96, maybe?

Interesting, I didn't know Aeroflot ever flew IIyushin aircraft into SFO or any US airport for that matter.

Time to go search the DB.......

Aeoflot flew the IL-62, IL-96, B 767 and now the 777. The stop in Seattle has been going on for a while now. They use to have a non stop to Moscow and even a Moscow-St Pete - SFO route. It really does not matter how large a particular group of people live in one region. If they are not going to fly, they are not going to fly.

At SFO they started with the -62M, which stopped at ANC. Pretty sure SFO never saw an -86; when did SEA? They flew -96s to SFO and LAX, among (I assume) other US cities.

I saw -86's in SEA early-mid 1998, flying from Seattle - Far East Russia, along with the IL-62.

Aeroflot's first SFO flights were -62Ms to Khabarovsk via ANC.
