As per the employee's daily memo and weekly "voice mail" from Gordon, Mr. Bethune is expected to make a major announcement (i.e. same magnitude as introduction of BusinessFirst) on Monday during a luncheon with a Washington, DC-area airline industry group.
Timing is right for Boeing to announce a launch customer for the 7E7, and we have deferred all deliveries of that size aircraft indefinitely. Perhaps a conversion of existing orders to 7E7? Gordon and several other key executives have been meeting with Boeing to discuss aircraft orders, but no other specifics have been reached. Things could get interesting, stay tuned...

Interesting, I'll be back at work tomorrow after a short vacation, hopefully I'll get a better idea then. Until that time, I'd like to see some speculation, we are a pretty conservative carrier, it's not every day we announce something big!

There was a meeting today with Continental executives (including Gordon) and Boeing executives......also on the agenda, from wire service reports, was the 11 B757-300s, I posted that a couple of minutes ago.
Could it be possible that CO will announce that it is taking the aircraft and the announcement will be about new routes, increased services, or the creation of an additional focus city? One possibility.
The other thing that comes to mind is the AF/KLM deal and how it affects Continental......Continental joining SkyTeam would be a major step, and could result in increased transatlantic services and/or transpacific services. (more service to paris, rome, milan? new routes to Seoul?)

I think it'll be the Skyteam announcement. In another thread, it has been said that Air France will be making an annoucement on September 15 (Monday) about new Skyteam members. So, we will likely learn on Monday that Continental, KLM, and Northwest are officially joining Skyteam.

I agree with TIMF and N766UA, either the announcement of skyteam, or the dropping of Cleveland. The industry is still too unstable to announce a new a/c type. Just 2 years ago CO was making a big deal that it had to default on a/c lease payments, they since deferred a/c deliveries, and like everyone else, haven't made a profit! Not sure if announcing a new a/c type and order is really a priority for them.

Dropping of Cleveland-- that makes no sense, none at all-- if he said it was a product enhancement-- well how is dropping a hub a product enhancement? Or let's say it's a product enhancement related to a move-- tell me what puny city could they move to that would be a product enhancement and described as such.

N766UA, there's been so many people that have worked up here, and the truth is I either don't know, or just can't remember all of them. That name doesn't ring a bell offhand, but maybe it'll shake loose in my memory.
Flyboyaz, I hear you about more work-but not a whole lot. I understand where it's coming from.

The announcement on Monday is not about the "new elite" program as you call it. Firstly is the elite issue is a minor tweak, and is really part of a continuing tweak over the last 6 months or so, but really shouldn't be talked about on here. Besides, the elite stuff was in the MOU this month, so it is hardly worth a huge announcement if it were that.
I would also be surprised if it were to do with Skyteam as Gordon pretty much announced that months ago.

Well Artsy it starts on Monday the 15th and it's all we've heard about for the past 2 weeks....and we were told it was the biggest thing since we introduced Businessfirst. Maybe there is something else?? Who knows but that was my guess. I've been know to be wrong from time to time...hehe.

Well true they don't want to advertise it too much but today we got about a dozen new signs advertising it for our ticket counter. We spent all day moving lines and signs.....lots of fun! It's going to be more of a headache than anything!
