This is sort of in response to the post from a few days ago about the major announcement coming monday-today. I received an e-mail from Continental this morning announcing their new program "eliteAccess." Is this the "major" announcement? While this is pretty big i guess, it's not nearly on par with what some of you had proposed.

I agree, while the Elite Access program sounds interesting, and as en Elite CO member the idea of easier security and aircraft boarding sounds good, the program is not revolutionary. I am all for anything that improves service, the premium economy section for Elite members that was propsed here was nice, well, maybe next year..........
I really thought that CO would make an announcement concerning SkyTeam membership or about the results of Gordon's meeting with Boeing last Friday.

Personally, I hope that EliteAccess isn't the "Major Announcement." After reading the details, it is really not much more than another case of (yawn) branding. Big deal, guaranteed aisle / window seats for elite / full fare fliers, etc. etc. etc. If this is the major announcement, CO must be desperate for news attention; in prior years this would have been nothing but a footnote in the members guide or my monthly Onepass statement.

Yeah, that was the "major announcement." Hardly worth the hype. You elite platinum golden copper aluminum people can go have your field day, but as for me and the other 90% of CO's customers... BAH!

There was not marketing promotion for this, or any "hype".
Gordon Bethune last Friday on the employee voice mail indicated a "big" announcement regarding improvements to inflight service for passengers, people took it for something else and let their imaginations run wild.

I got the same e-mail message. I see nothing there that I do not already get from my NW elite status right now.

The company nor Gordon Bethune "hyped" the new service improvements, folks on these boards misconstrued his "Big inflight service improvement" comment on an employee voice mail to be "big announcement".

I was at ATL on Sunday and it looked like they had the section for "Elite Boarding" already set up.

STT757: That's what I was referring to, not the company.
