I read that Air Canada is starting on December 2nd non stop flights from YYZ to SCL and EZE.. That's great news ! How long is YYZ-SCL? Apparently they are using 767-300ER for this routes and they'll fly 3x week Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays

How long is YYZ-SCL?

5332mi, and almost completely due south. 763ERs should have no problem with this.

Hi, I thought this was an existing route or was that Canadian? Anyways, with AC in bankruptcy, this is quite surprising news - they must be hopeful of making money on this route.

p.s. didn't Canadian stop at GRU?

Well, SCL is OneHeathroWorld territory... so be interesting to see how Star makes out there.

Santiago de Chile and Buenos Aires, AR.

I'm shocked they wouldn't just route to EZE via IAD. Throwing money at a down market doesn't sounds like a great plan to me.

CanadaEH, just a tip. If you move your mouse curser over the 3 letter code you'll usually get the airports they refer to. This also works for the codes for most airlines.

Citizens of Chile/Argentina now must obtain a visa to transfer at any U.S. airport when flying to Canada.
This has made it very inconvenient for passengers from those countries and has made direct flights much more attractive as a result.

The travel patterns of thousands of people have been forcefully changed by the U.S. government and AC is only trying to exploit the situation.

Why are they picking on Chile and Argentina? Or is it the same for other countries?

it sure is good to see AC expanding like they have. hopefully, they wont turn into another Canada 3000.

Timz- im sure there are other countries the US makes get visas too. I heard that Varig might pull their GRU-LAX-NRT flights for this reason. the new law that makes people get visas to just transfer is ludicrous

CPAir and Canadian Airlines used to fly Vancouver-Lima-Santiago-Buenos Airies and also Toronto-Lima for many years with DC8's and DC10's. Did AC stop these flights when they took over?

"Why are they picking on Chile and Argentina?"
They are picking on us because the Menem-era ended down here. Carlos Menem, president 89-99 had a close relationship with my friend Clinton  Laugh out loud (Argentina has been in the Visa Weiver program from 94-2002.) Now with Bush, things have changed... It seems they don't like us anymore.  Crying

Anyway I still have my US toursit visa, but may don't...

Regards,
Matt  Big thumbs up
