It probably wasn't because of fuel reasons... there would be tail winds for almost the whole journey from Europe down to Asia... and that stop in Delhi.... it came back to Singapore only an hour late.. but don't rule this out!

At the moment, there is no reason given on the system that they can access at the moment. My hunch is that we'll probably not know for some time if ever.
However, for comparison's sake, the boy who was let on by Sydney Airport authorities on the MEGATOP to Singapore which diverted to Darwin, delayed the plane for two hours. This JUBILEE ER was delayed for only one so... Hmm
