Just the other night I was meeting a inbound A320 and saw a logo that was pretty shocking to see. Next to the cabin door to the left you have the Star Alliance logo, on the right side on the door was a Pepsi logo that was probably 4ft by 3ft and read "Play to win a Billion dollars"

Has anyone seen this logo before? The captain said they are new, and he has never seen one before this aircraft.

Wonder how much Pepsi paid UAL to put on the plane, maybe they are giving us free soda for the logo?

the plane number was N496UA

Yup, discrete advertising.

It doesn't make the United planes as cheap as a "flying billboard", but it certainly makes an impression on passengers as they walk in.

I would argue that it doesn't deteriorate the brand to have a small ad near the door that usually only boarding passengers can see.

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

United was a major sponsor in the Pepsi Play for One Billion dollars contest. They aired a show last Sunday night where they awarded the prizes. One prize was a trip for two around the world in United First Class. They showed an A320 sitting at MCO waiting for the winners to board. It had the Pepsi sticker on it as mentioned previously. I didn't see the registration, but it could be that they applied the sticker just to this one aircraft that they used in the show.

Just an update, N496UA (The plane I actually flew on December 2nd 2002 from SNA to DEN) now has that sticker too. Saw it out there at DEN.

Money does not bring you happiness. But it's better to cry in your own private limo than on a cold bus stop.
