When Delta retired the L1011 and 727, I assumed these would be broken up due to their age and obsolescence. But according to this website, many of these have been sold and are back in the air!

Nice to see this ex-DL L1011s in service with Yes and Universal airlines. The Universal L10 keeps the widget livery stripes intact:

Some of the 727s still have most of the Delta livery intact, including this ugly bugger. Does it REALLY cost that much more for a new paint job?

I can't believe Delta didn't make Indonesian Airlines paint over the rippling flag on the tail...that's Delta's current scheme! Can't say it looks bad though.

Do you think more Delta L10s and 727s will see service again? Some of them have very low time since D checks, from what I hear.

No wonder they ceased operations with a paintjob like that!

Twenty ex-DAL B727's have been sold to an Indonesian airline and are leaving, one by one from VCV enroute Djakarta.
The folks involved are known to many...mostly for not paying their bills on time.
Unfortunately.

The INDONESIAN paint scheme could be a Hybrid.

There's no 'law' saying another airline can't fly their current paint scheme? Almost like a copyright on a logo or something? Just seems weird, but I guess as long as the airline's name isn't on there it's fine.

Im sure they change the paint on that 727 the first time it was scheduled for heavy maintnance, im sure Delta wouldnt let them get away with that for to long.

BTW: i remember when that photo was taken, it was a couple of days after Delta's last 727 flew i think?
