Hey Leneld, my fellow Oregon aviation enthusiast!
I haven't heard anything new about PDX for a while, And for a while there it seemed like they were getting new carrier news rather often! I've heard EUG will be getting service to SLC by Delta Connection come June, 04, so that will be pretty tight!

As far as PDX is concerned, I know they just got the new CR7 from United Express, but I think you already knew that. I think the probability of AS adding new cities is definately there, but thats not too exiting. What you want to hear, Im sure, is a Jappanese carrier, or US carrier flying a route to say NRT or something... I honestly don't know what to say about that one. I wouldn't be supprised if UA announced a 5X weekly service to NRT because of their "Mini hub" operation there, and their focus in PDX, but It seems to close to SEA! However, the potential is still there for that type of flight. I also now that airlines like NW have been interested in a PDX-SEA flight. There is definately a market here for those kinds of services, And I don't mean Portland, OR- Asia, I mean OREGON-ASIA, the flight would certainly be aimed at serving all the citizens of Oregon to ASIA! I guess we'll see huh? Well I'm looking forward to seeing PDX "take off" with some new routes sometime in the near future, realisticaly I don't see anything happening maybe until April or May.

Always nice to see PDX threads, as I was born and raised in Corvallis.

I think PDX should be pleased for the time being that they have achieved direct European service with LH to FRA. I don't expect to see any other European service any time in the near future. As for Asian service, DL failed to make PDX into a mini-hub and I don't see anyone else picking up that slack.

Maybe WN will announce direct PDX-AUS service so I can visit home more often with less stops?? That would be great!  Wink/being sarcastic Wink/being sarcastic

Firings, if well done, are good for employee morale.

Super Dash.... The answer is no I'm not satified!!!!!! I would love to see Alaska and Horizon do more with PDX in the future especially with the new concourse that was recently completed for both Alaska and Southwest...Those airlines approach to Portland is way too conservative.. Portland should have at least at least 1 flights to every 3 Alaska/Horizon flies out of Seattle.. A little more than half the populations should equate to at least 1/2 the flight operations.....This is just my opinion...Hell...Maybe we should just remove PDX all together and create a high speed rail to Sea/tac...

I'd love to see PDX get more service but I really am quite satisfied with what we have now. If you think about it, Portland probably has the best service(and certainly the best spotting!) per population of any city in the US. The last thing PDX needs is to get "too big for its britches". I'm happy with what we have but I'd still love to see JetBlue, ATA and a nonstop to Asia. But not too quickly. I think we Oregonians get a bit overzealous in our international efforts. We should wait until the economy kicks into high gear again before we go nuts out at PDX.
