Personally I think that is a fairly good strategy by QF, because 3mins isn't a big difference, and some peoples clocks are like 5-10mins slow/fast, so this is good because their flights will get away quicker. Love to hear if it is confirmed

I did not see that happening with QF419 when the 9AM flight was not pushed back until 9:35.
One thing for sure, I was up in the lounge having my tea at 8:40 when it said 'GATE CLOSED' on the screens. I ran down like hell, only to wait nearly an hour in the seat.
The only apology we heard that morning was from the F/O who simply said:'It is rush hour here in Sydney airport, we will be out to Melbourne as soon it is our turn'
I would not mind having a look at QF's current on time performance.

I am not sure it will help as on the last few flights I have had with QF it has not been passengers that have delayed the flight rather QF not getting the planes ready in time.... It always seems to happen with QF.
