I just viewed the picture of the AA flight 1048 that made an emergency landing at JFK earlier this month. Can someone please fill me in on the details of this situation. I am surprised I missed hearing about it.

Many thanks,

Ian.

It was suppose to go to Newark, NJ but the pilot got a light in the cockpit saying the nose gear wasnt down so he did a fly by on the tower and he didnt have the front gear down. So they sent him to JFK where the runway is longer and AA has maintnace there.

I'm not sure but I think it was departing Newark when the nosewheel failed to retract properly so it went to JFK.
Can anyone clarify this for us?

Does anybody know if they actually evacuated via slides, or did the port eventually arrive and let 'em off via airstairs??

Marc
