What are ALL the USX carriers?

Where are they based?

Where do they fly generally?

Are they independent, wholly owned by US Airways Group, Inc. or by Mesa or someone else?

Now, looking at these pics, can you tell which USX airline it is?

i know a couple

Midwest
PSA
Mesa

I think that PSA and Midwest are wholly owned, but Mesa is contracted.

Piedmont, PSA, Allegheny and Mid Atlantic are all wholly owned US Express carriers. The Mid Atlantic division will be flying 'mainline' RJ service is how I understand it. Other US Express affiliates are Shuttle America, Colgan, Mesa and Air Midwest(Mesa), Midway. The status of the last 2 are anyone's guess. Air Midwest recently lost it's operating certificate and Midway is talking chapter 7 liquidation. There's another airline in the carribean, but that's a codeshare and doesn't operate as US Airways Express.

To answer your question as to which aircraft belong to which airlines:

1. Piedmont
2. Allegheny
3. CCAir (now defunct)
4. Mesa
5. PSA
6. Piedmont
7. PSA
8. TransStates
9. CCAir

Having worked for USAirways Express, you get a feel for which divisions operate which aircraft type, as well as 2-letter codes...i.e. Allegheny is "EX". Also, Air Midwest did not lose their operating certificate. They are currently still operating 1900's on behalf of US out of PHL, CLT, PIT, and TPA.

Chautauqua Airlines has long been a partner of USAir(ways), serving as an independent express carrier. Currently, the USAirways Express route structure that Chautauqua operates focuses on connecting parts of the Midwest and Eastern seaboard with major East Coast cities. Major focal points in their USAirways Express operations are Washington National, New York LaGuardia, and Boston.

Edit: someone had already mentioned CHQ, here a bit more info on their operations for USAirways.

John - Don't confuse Mid Atlantic as a similar operation to the other WO; PSA, Allegheny, and Piedmont. It will be a mainline division flying the Embraer 170s and 175s. Keep in mind...these aircraft at not RJs and have not been called RJs by Embraer, the airline, nor the pilot unions. There is nothing regional about this jet.

Mesa liquidated everything out of CC Air, it no longer exist. Midway just got an 2-week extension to avoid chapter 7 today, so give it 2 weeks to last.

OOPs, forgot TransStates. Does Chautauqua still operate some US Express routes? Air Midwest(owned by Mesa, former Florida Gulf) has discontinued Florida B1900 operations. Don't know if they will be replaced.

Ouboy79, I'm well aware that Mid Atlantic will be a mainline 'small jet' division. Pardon my terminology of RJ, that's a big NO NO...shame on me!  Smile

Some US Airways Express folks here in New Orleans told me that Air Midwest (or another affiliate) is planning on starting up the Florida service similar to what Florida Gulf used to do...PNS, TLH, JAX, etc.

Redngold,
Doesn't Chautauqua still fly the S340? Nice plane for a 34 seater.
