What routes does Continental fly the 757-300 on? I am hoping to see some in Las Vegas.

I remember seeing pictures of the 753 at FLL for a while....not sure if they've taken it down to the 752 now.

CO will rotate the 757-300s back to EWR-Florida flights soon for the peak season.

Why doesn't CO use their 753s on transatlantic routes? It seems they could use them on some of their routes like EWR-BHX. Are they not ETOPS certified?

They do use a 757 from CLE to LGW seasonally, I do not know if it is a 200 or 300 series tho.

Continental only has about 4 753s right now; they are only to be used on domestic routes as they do not have the range of the 752s nor Buisiness First. The 757s from CLE to LGW are -200s. Continental order the 753s for high-density domestic low-yield routes.

With only four in the fleet, and CO having cancelled the rest of the order - do we see them removing these aircraft from the fleet, due to lack of commonality with the remaining fleet? If one goes Tech they are in trouble, especially if the four aircraft are based in different airports.

Bestwestern,
They have not "cancelled" any orders, they are trying to "defer" some of the remaining 11 aircraft that are slated to be delivered.
Defer by about 2 years, they still are going to take delivery of them and perhaps 3-4 more this year.

Did they cancel the rest of the order or I remember reading that they want to delay the delivery of them to later than what was the original date they had????

Are you nuts? There are flights to LAS and BWI using the -300s, I hear them every evening.
CLE-LGW is a -200, the -300 doesn't have the range.

N766UA,the 753 is probably the only time you'de hear 'Continental XXX heavy' on the scanner. Does CO put any 762/764 or 777's into CLE?

No the 757's are as big as we get in CLE from CO, or anyone else for that matter.

The 753 service to MSY runs through November 1, then it gets moved back to the NYC-Florida service for the Winter. Same with the BWI-CLE-LAS run. It will probably come back...been here for two years now on and off. What a sharp looking plane, and an absolute pleasure to fly on.

You're right, United_Fan, the 753 is Continental's only heavy into CLE. We see 777s on occasion but only if they're diverted. I was lucky enough to see Peter Max at CLE a few months ago.. got a pic of it and it's on jetphotos.net.

We get plenty of heavies from other airlines. You said from CO specifically, though.
We also get UPS DC-8s and A300s as well as 747s from the middle east and the occasional charter DL or similar 767.

The -300 is not certified ETOPS at CO. A number of options required for the aircraft were not included on our -300s. So to say it is a range problem is not correct.
