I'm pretty sure Pan Am III flies them exclusively. NW does not -- not sure when they retired the type. I'd be very interested to know of any other operators, I'd love to get on one once more.

Pan Am flies scheduled 727's from Portsmouth,NH to Sanford/Orlando,FL...and new 727 service to Myrtle Beach. International service from Sanford to the Caribbean is also offered on the tri jets.
Northwest does not have any more 727's..neither does, DL, CO, AA, UA...so very, very sad.
727's are used by some charter airlines, such as Falcoln, Planet, and Transmeridian (now doing some scheduled flights as well).

Champion Air still flies 727-200s. From STL to vacation destinations. I believe that one is the last that Boeing produced in passenger carrying configuration. Ryan used to fly them in but they have gone to 737s.

I was able to fly on a DL 727 about 4 months before they were all retired. Got a cockpit tour and photos uploaded here too. Unfortunately it was a very short flight ATL-BHM I wish it was longer.

Northwest's last charter flight for an NBA team with a 727 was when the New Jersey Nets were flown home after losing to the Spurs in the NBA Championship.
I'm also lucky I got to fly a 722 recently. I flew on one in May of last year from IND to MSP. The trip was a bit bumpy from storms in the MSP area, but it was fun (even in the middle seat). Most of my flights over the years have been on 727s and I am somewhat sad to see them go as I like them better then the DC-9 based machines.

I know there are about 5 old NW 727 in OKC that have been repainted in MG colors. We had some NWA MTM employees working on the engines. I guess the charter Business is doing better

I also flew on DL about 1 1/2 years ago from TUS-ATL and also CVG-TUS and back on the 727. I was in first class and it was very quiet. I love those planes. Now with the ability to replace the 2 outboard engines with MD80 engines...they can actually be quite quiet and fuel efficient....would make a good plane for a new airline. I've heard as well the cockpits can be converted to a 2 man all glass cockpit...very cool!
