I am flying over as a lot of people know, but was wondering what would be the shortest route out of BOS because i may look at having a day trip somewhere.

Thanks

Stu

Nantucket, Matha's Vineyard, Hyannis, Provincetown on Cape Air
Portland, Maine on American Eagle (DL express may fly that too)

There may be more, but I hope this helps.

US serves a lot of destinations in New England out of BOS, quite a few in Maine, as well as the Cape...CanyonBlue...don't you mean DL Connection?

Just did a little looking on Cape Air http://flycapeair.com btw.

To do a quick there and back jump between Logan and Provincetown on a Saturday (I checked Oct. 26th) would set you back $155. However you'll be in a Cessna 402, and I do believe that you can fly up in the right seat as well. Certainly wouldn't get that type of experience flying a DL Connex Dodo Jet or a Eagle Saab or Jungle Jet.

Actually upon further examination it looks like Hyannis (HYA) would be about 20 bucks cheaper for the same there and back Saturday excursion. Only 30 minutes in flight max.

BOS has a real shortage of gate space and parking stands, so when Icelandair adds a weekend flight from BOS-KEF, they have to ferry the aircraft (B757) up to MHT and park it there for the week.

I know DL does maintenance on it during the week, so you can try and pull some strings and hop on it for the ride down to BOS early Saturday mornings. I've never tried it, but it could be done.

I know that there are no scheduled flights, but there are some ferry flights for business aircraft between BED-BOS. On flytecomm.com it shows the flights to be no more than 10 mins.

But I would guess that the shortest flight would be BOS-Provincetown

According to www.airnav.com:
BOS-PVC is 39.0 nautical miles. (PVC=Provincetown)
BOS-HYA is 52.8 nautical miles. (HYA=Hyannis)

Cape Air's BOS-PVC wins hands down.

MHT is 39.1 nautical miles, if a BOS-MHT flight exists. Provincetown still wins.
