Hey guys according to www.jusplanes.com

"Qatar Airways
Will inaugurate service from Doha to Singapore continuing to Cebu on 10Dec03.
Flight will depart Doha on Tue/Wed/Sat and depart Cebu on Mon/Thu/Fri and will be operated with an Airbus A300-600R"

Wow, this amazes me as they will be flying to CEBU. hmmm are they allowed to pick up traffic from SIN-CEB-SIN. I know there's a lot of Filipinos in Qatar but to fly to CEB is very interesting indeed.

Yes SIN has an open skies policy so I would expect QR to have full pax and cargo rights from SIN to CEB and back to CEB.

You see MNL has too many airlines flying to the GULF and there are 1000s of Filipinos who work in the Middle East but hail from CEBU too and its adjoining areas so this will be a very convienient flight for them. Plus QR can also take CEBU pax to Europe and Africa via DOH. Cebu is a popular destination for SIN people as well as Europeans...its the Hawaii of the Phillppines  Big grin

It is interesting to note that the Qatar government has specificaly requested a meeting with Australian authorities regarding a bilateral air treaty. Qatar Airways also has Australia in its sights.

QR's smallest plane for medium haul is an A300. SilkAir uses an A320 on the route...

It would be fantastic to see Qatar come downunder! But with daily EK and GF flights to Sydney for example, they better come prepared for a big fight.

I hope the prices to Cebu will be cheap. Silkair overcharges on this sector.

Good to hear a new airline in SIN.

This flight of QR will become even more better and luxurious when its AB6s are fully replaced next year with superb A 332s with an amazing Inflight product especially in the premium J and Y classes!!!

QR would do well in Australia (SYD and MEL only). They should route all their flights via KUL only and not via SIN due to too much competition from there. However if they want to get creative, then fly DOH-BOM-MEL/SYD with their new A 346 IGWs!!! There is enough demand to justify a nonstop BOM-SYD-BOM flight 3-4 times a week at least with A 346s!!!
