Has anyone heard that whooshing sound a 767 makes as it descends?
I hear that sound frequently in HNL.
On a recent HA 767-300 flight I heard it in the cabin. Unfortunately, I had an aisle seat, but peered out the window to see the flaps being deployed. Could that be the cause of that sound? Why is it that no other airliner makes that sound?

Hmm, I'm thinking it could be too things. If it happens while on approach, I'd assume it would be the landing gear coming down and the air wooshing around in the landing gear bay.
Or, it could be something to do with the pressurization or the a/c making wooshing noises.

The sound, which is hard to describe, other than a whoosh or a growl, occurs before the landing gear is lowered. I believe we were about 6,000 to 8,000 feet in altitude when the 767 makes that sound.
It seems that all variants make it: AC 762s, DL & CO 764s, and HA, AA, & UA 763s.
Maybe the 767s are farting because of the airline food?!?

That sound is also audible from the outside. Everytime a 767 flies over my house it makes that momentary "whoosh" sound, kinda does sound like a farting sound haha.
