A few bits of assorted news:

LHR-BOS VS11/12 is planned to operate on A340-600 eqpt 7Nov-20Dec apart from Tue/Wed when it'll be A340-300

LHR-CPT VS603/604 is planned to operate on A340-600 eqpt on the Tue and Fri services between 23Dec-10Jan, and the Sun service 28Dec and 11Jan.

6th A340-600 G-VATL (Miss Kitty) ex-F-WWCC due to be delivered TLS-LHR 31Oct.

747-400 G-VTOP still in DUB; expected to depart during the coming week after installation/certification of the new Upper Class Suite.

G-VROC is due to go to DUB for installation of the Upper Class Suite between 21Oct-14Nov, although it may take a bit longer if VTOP is anything to go by!

Has MAN been unlucky in getting G-VGAL twice to operate MAN-MCO-MAN in the last week or so? Or is that one kept in reserve as back up for the more touristy routes?

Not sure about the reasons behind MAN-MCO getting a 400 recently as I've been away for a couple of weeks. I can only assume that TF-ATN was tech or something and TF-ATW was unavailable as it's on maintenance. A LGW based 400 would be the obvious choice to cover VS75/76 due to having a higher seating capacity than the LHR based a/c, but I guess it's just (bad!) luck that you got VGAL twice.

I think TF-ATN had to shut down one of it's engines 20mins into flight and diverted back to Manchester

TF-ATN was in LUX for maintenance from 4/9 to 9/9.

G-VROC is having acceptance trials in KBFI now.

G-VTOP is still in EIDW, Due back to EGLL any day apparently.

There's nothing wrong with G-VGAL....I think David was intimating that he would've preferred 2 different VS 744's to visit MAN rather than the same one twice (ie from a spotter/enthusiast's perspective).

Absolutely correct! I've never been to LGW and the last time I went to LHR, VS had 1 747, therefore, one is reliant upon "misfortune" to strike or unforecast inclement weather so that unusual aircraft grace the tarmac up here!

If you've spotted G-VGAL @ MAN recently, it was a one-off situation due to a cancellation on the VS75/76 route due to tech. difficulties with the usual
-200 TF-ATN (Air Atlanta sub-ops).

Just one of those things...

G-VATL will have the old J2000 seats in when it is delivered. The timetable for re-fitting the a/c with the new interiors is fairly fluid at the moment....
