Back in the 70's when Hughes Airwest Did the makeover, and redesigned their logo, adopted the Yellow Fuselage and Blue logo and print, they also
painted or sprayed the windows of the aircraft with a mirror type finish.
They didn't continue this for long as I heard it was quite costly. Has any other airline done this or attempted this proceedure?

I'm not sure. Rumor was that Hughes AW did it after the mid air collision between one of it's DC-9s and a Marine F-4C near Duarte, California in June 71( at the time of the accident the DC-9 was painted in the green/blue AirWest colors). The company perhaps intended the reflective window tint to make their aircraft more visible.
