Just was looking at the schedules today and saw that American Airlines has quietly changed over the MSP-STL schedules. Starting November 1st, the STL-MSP route will change from MD80s to ERJs. Both Trans States Airlines and Chautauqua Airlines will be operating on this route.

However, I also noticed that AA is going all MD80 to DFW (except for one daily flight). Plus AA is adding a daily flight to MIA on the same day. ORD is the only city that remains the same (all F100s).

Watch out MSP spotters, things are changing.

As part of the F100 retirement, AA will no longer fly F100's to DFW starting..Jan 1 i believe. The traffic that is being lost to STL by the loss of capacity is probably being re-routed through DFW.

All this news as actually been pretty public. The STL decrease is due to AA's announcement that the STL hub would be downsized effective beginning November. The loss of capacity is made up by the few extra flights you noted.

As already stated, AA's November schedule changes, including the STL hub reductions, have been known since late summer.

So basically all the same, except we'll start seeing AA ERJs? Sweet!

Yeah, by saying quietly I just meant that this is going to sneak up on the general public. I know there's been a lot of talk on the forums about the service cuts in STL but most people don't know that. Business travelers are going to get on their STL flight a be a little surprised that its a regional jet (unless they checked ahead). It'll mean some more aircrafts into MSP, although I'll miss those Fokker 100s.

Here's the schedule from American's Electronic Schedule:

ERD signifies the ERJ-140 which seats 44 people.
ER4 signifies the ERJ-145 which seats 50 people.

Note: These won't be American Eagle aircraft. These will be Trans States or Chatauqua operating in the American Connection livery.

Well isn't that a disappointment? I actually like the AE livery better. Oh well.  Wink/being sarcastic

It'll be interesting to see these little guys here. At least the flight is only 1.5 hrs compared to the 2.5 hrs on the Continental Expressjets to EWR.
