LOT is suspending its Beirut service until April 1, 2004. Does anyone know why it's being suspended?

I am almost positive that it is not a seasonal service.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

What ?!? That is pretty shocking, considering the articles I read about the air traffic between Poland And Beirut. Those Middle East and Far East destinations are cancelled like crazy, for example it seems like LOT cancelled it's re-re-re-renewed  Smile/happy/getting dizzy service to Cairo, running just a few weeks ago, the flights to Basra seem suspended, not to mention those long gone flights to Delhi, Singapore, Bangkok and Bejing :-( And what's the point of having a ticketing office in Tokyo, when they don't even fly there, I don't think they ever did ... It's funny how when you go on their website and go on route maps and select the Far East, you only get Tel Aviv, Damascus, Beirut and that ticketing office in Tokyo, nothing in between, and when you click Europe, they also show you TLV, Damascus and Beirut. Even CSA has Far East flights - Dubai and Colombo.

You're right, Cairo has also been canceled. I wasn't aware of that.

And it's not coming back in April, at least they haven't uploaded the Cairo flight in April yet.

Strange....I wonder why?

Is LOT having some union issues? Or operational problems? Can't really think of anything else.

MANY Eastern European and CIS carriers serve Beirut.

JAT, Tarom, Malev, CSA, Hemus Air, UM Air, and Aeroflot all serve Beirut with non-stop service with multiple frequencies.

Did LOT ever serve Damascus? I never thought they did.

In the summer LOT flew to Beirut 2x weekly rather than 1x weekly. Still nothing like JAT or CSA which during the summer flew to Beirut 6x weekly each.
