I am a huge fan of Alitalia, and like KLM also. I didn't think you could get more boring than the interior AZ picked for it's 777's. I was wrong. This interior sucks.

What's so important about PTV? Just bring a good book or sleep...

Bastiaan,
Fly HNL-AMS or NRT-AMS and you will appreciate PTV's.

Two days ago I had a book AND a PTV and still figured: What the hell am I doing on a 9 hour flight. Big grin

Have to say that I agree with Alitalia744, KLM is undoubtebly one of the greats, perhaps even the greatest but this interior can be summed up in two words. BOR ING

Couldn't the bods at KLM come up with something better ?

True, but if you work day in , day out staring at a computer screen, it's also nice to just read a book , drink a liter of wine and fall a sleep.  Laugh out loud

Besides, we're al getting spoiled, 10 years ago the fares were much higher, same distance trips and no PTV's. And people were still happy.....

KL911 or Bastiaan , or whatever you want to call me..

I was at the Boeing Plant today, and the bus drove right by that 777. They were having the ceremony before it left for Amsterdam. I saw people get into the plane. It looked nice, new, and shiny!

I like the interior! The seats seems to be exactly the same type as those on AZ's 777s althouhg that cabin was light grey in color.

Hope to see some of the KL 777s in January when I go to AMS.

Need a Boeing 777 Firing Order....Further to fly....CI, MU, LX and LH 777s

I'll agree...it's a beautfiul aircraft for a great airline. But the interior does not generate much excitement, at least for me. Those Business CLass seats look really funky...do they recline into beds or what? Also, there are no PTV's in Y Class?!

Thanks
AirVB

According to a mail from KLM, the 777 will be fitted out with an AVOD system in BOTH C and Y! Just check the KL site next week. I'm sure they will have pics and more info about their not so exciting C Class..

From what I hear the first destinations will be in Asia, so the US will have to wait.

First aircraft arrived safely, second set to follow next week and third early December.
Deliveries have been pulled forward to compensate for the retirement of the 747-200 fleet which will leave KLM short 10 widebodies starting next month!

I wish I were flying

Does anyone know the names for the KLM 777's. I know the first one will be named Albert Plesman, but what about the rest?

Hello guys,

First destination starting in November will be YYZ and then CPT.
Then end of December JFK and NRT.
And i'm going to have the sneak preview of the new B777 tommorrow morning between 10 and 11.

And they do have PTV's with the newest entertainment system available at this moment. And do not gorget even LH and IB do not have PTV's on board also but finally KLM decided to have them.

Best Regards

Virginia

Dispatch, I flew LHR-AKL direct (24 hours) on Air New Zealand and I didn't miss a PTV. Not everybody wants a PTV.

From what I hear the first destinations will be in Asia, so the US will have to wait.

Although it varies almost day by day, the first 777 is scheduled to go to Toronto (first flight scheduled on November 5th) later the B777 will go on the Amsterdam - Cape Town route (the B777 will repalce the B747 on AMS-CPT-AMS soon as it's OK).

However before the introduction on any commercial flight those living near London better watch out as KLM has a habit of doing testing flights to LHR with its new aircraft.
