Does anybody know whether the RAF still operates this flight with its Tristars and if so how many times does it operate?

It would seem so. They last updated timetable/fares as of 1st April 2003; and the Falklands Islands Tourist Board quotes departures until February 2004...

I just checked the BBZ-MPN flights a few days ago and they are still loaded in the CRS.

Another option to go to MPN would be Lan with a weekly/twice weekly service from SCL with two stops to MPN.
