JNB: What Is It Like For Spotting?

I have the opportunity of going to JNB for a few days next month. What is JNB like for spotting - NOT PHOTOGRAPHY - without a car? I have heard that there's a convenient airport hotel - what's it called?

Did you check spottersunited.com?

They generally have good reports regarding spotting.

There are two hotels within waliking distance of the airport: the Intercontinental Hotel and Airport Holiday Inn.

There are very good viewing decks in both the International and Domestic terminals.

I stayed at the Airport Sun Intercontinental for a night. The rooms are quite nice and at the top is a CLOSED  Sad viewing deck with a gym and heated pool.
The pool overlooks the international terminal and you can hear the heavies starting up. You can also watch the departures and arrivals on runway 03L.
It was a great experience
