Airpolonia will become the first polish lowfare airline. Their service will include flights to Germany, France and the UK. The exact destination cities will be released by the end of next week.

The plan is for the airline to provide affortable ticket prices and take some of LOT's market share.

Not sure if this is true, but it was stated that one of the main reasons for the lower ticket prices will be : The pax have to walk to the plane insted of being droped off by a bus.
- less lugage will be allowed per passanger.
- and the passangers will have to load their own luggage into the plane( I hope I heard wrong) because this sound rediculus. How can passangers load their own luggage on to the plane. This is not a buss.

Does any one want to make any predictions on LOT's response to Airpolonia???
Will we see a price war???

And most important the impact it will have on EuroLOT???

Sure, one of the passengers will go down to the cargo compartments and 3 other passengers will throw him laguage inside. He will then secure all laguage with the net and they will close the cargo bay.
When they finish with those bags they will have to refuel the plane.
After refueling two of them will go into the cockpit and they will do before departure checklist.
Passangers for Air Polonia flights are asked while booking the plane if they own a tractor. If they have one they automaticly are responsible for pushback. Family and relatives are being designated as a wingwalkers.
All female passengers are required to bring food for themselves and are also required to share it with other people.

This is the secret key for low fare in Poland....

Lindy

Thanks for your input. Really show how inteligent you are. next time keep your useless remakes and comments to your self.

As it was stated in the thread I might have missunderstood what they have said. However it is possible for people to load their own lugage its called carry on. And since they have a limit of how much luggage you can bring, that might just be what they were talking about.

No, its NOT possible to anyone BUT ramp agent to put anything into the cargo load.

And in case if you didn't see it. It was just a joke.

ATI was reporting a few days back that the former LOT boss Litwinski is the driving force behind this new idea.

Ouch Lindy, that's pretty rough. While I admire your wise and sagacious comments, no doubt gained from your intellectually stimulating experience--dare I say, education(?)--working as a ramper at IAD, some how I doubt that the 'secret,' as you so eloquently and graciously refer to it, to low-cost air fare in Poland is the way you describe it.

SPLOBKrakow, in my humble opinion (beware, I am not as enlightened as others; for I hold no Ph.d from the University of IAD  Smile ), I would think that there is room for both LOT and Air Polonia to compete in the expanding market for air travel in and around Poland. According to this site, LOT's load factor increased by 8% and set record load lelvels as well as the number of passengers carried in 2002. Besides, as Poland continues to develop a stronger economy, I can't help but comment that a little competition, if that's the way LOT views it, is good for the capitalist soul...

Dirty politics. Air Polonia is strictly connected with current government. Suprisingly GetJet has been unable to get permit for months  Sad

Air Polonia and LOT already compete in the charter market.

I read somewhere that from December 1st Air Polonia will be flying Katowice - Cologne/Bonn. It didn't say whether it was going to be in the form of a low-cost venture.

Any form of competiton will be 'healthy' for LOT, whether its scheduled services, charter operations or low-cost airlines.

BTW, Lindy when was the last time you were in Poland?

How much A is there is Airliners Net ? 0 or nothing ?

Hey, It's impossible.... Even the staff who carries the luggage has a training degree!
And security? X-ray machine's??
Aircraft balance? I don't think that my granny will understand if she have to load her luggage in hold No1 or 2......

But believe me... I got inside the cargo hold of an Air Polonia B737 last summer and with a big surprise a saw cameras recording!!!!! It's not a joke! I have got inside the cargo hold of a lot of A/C but cameras only there...

Why do they have cameras???? To see if any passenger were forgotten inside while trying to load his luggage??  Laugh out loud

Surely Air Polonia will include Italy, seen that the first destination of the Polish is Italy and in particular Rome for the reasons that everybody know.

Air Polonia has only been aproved for flights to UK and Germany so far. And I doubt they will make a real competition to LOT as both companies are politicly controlled by the same group. Unfortunately.

The good news is Poland recently opened market for Germany, UK and Scandinavia. They are in talks with Holland, Italy and Spain.

"The company was created in 2001. The airline offers charter and cargo flights on Boeing 737-400 and other smaller planes. The two Boeing planes are leased from American ILFC. The firm has just started its charter flight operation. It was previously known for air taxi services and cargo flights having UPS as the biggest client."

What are the smaller types of aircraft they are refering to ???

SPLOB,

One of the smaller types is probably the Let L-410 Turbolet.

Not a very flattering-looking airplane, but I guess it get's the job done for now. Not sure what that is though, cargo (one pic says it carries mail) mostly for these Lets?

I tried to go to their website but it does not work.

The LETs are propably just used for cargo and possibly the air taxi as mentioned in an earlier post.
