According to salvemosaerolineas.com.ar and also some semi official sources from Aerolineas it seems that they are getting a 747-400 as early as mid November.. Does anybody have any other news about this? 747skipper? You should know about this one !

Is it rumored to be a completely new aircraft, or a used 744?

I would guess an used one if not Boeing would have it on its website

I think a used one would fit better for Aerolineas' budget.

Perhaps the ex-SQ or ex-UA birds parked in the desert?

Very good to hear that as Aerolineas´ 742s are more than 20 years old by now, time to start adding new blood.
But will this only be a single aircraft? Certainly secondhand, SQ, UA, Malaysia, Korean Air are possible sources, and what about the 744M from Air Namibia?

It's an ex Air Canada aircraft and will be used to MAD.
It can't be used to the US at the moment because of the FAA category 2 rating that does not allow changes of aircraft type and capacity on US routes.

It sounds great to me if they buy the B 747-400.

Anyway, does Aerolineas Argentinas have any plans to return to FRA near future?

Konstantin,
Thanks for the info. Btw where did you get the information that the aircraft in question comes from Air Canada?

It is somewhat confirmed that we may get some 400s...
They will not be new ones... source still not disclosed.
But the negotiation for lease/purchase still behind close doors...
For me it does not matter, I will remain on the 200s until they get retired.
I will keep you advised...

They also rumored about 737-300s, A320 and even 340-600s (!)... They talked about EZE-MAD-PEK... And other things I don't remember right now.
So untill I don't see them on the air, I will not believe Mr. Antonio Mata's words. I hope they do get those 744  Laugh out loud

Regards,
Matt.  Big thumbs up

"They" also are considering to get four 747-300s instead of 400s.
Apparently, the price is absolutely great...
These were the rumors of the day...
More news tomorrow maybe...

Maybe they're going to be used to replace the two repo 742s that they don't have in their fleet.
