Hello,

on Thursday I will travel on AirTran from LGA via ATL to HOU. The flight leaves at around 4PM in LGA and directly connects in ATL. I was just curious to know if these two sectors are normally flown by the 717 or the DC-9? Best possible option would of course be one sector on each of them...

Cheers,

Thomas

If you're on flights 367 and 295, it looks like you'll be on 717's all the way.

Hi Thomas,

Ntspelich is correct, according to Amadeus you will have a 717 on both flights:

Airtran Airways
FL 367 La Guardia (LGA), New York, New York, USA
Terminal M 15:59
William B Hartsfield (ATL), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Terminal N 18:39
Non-Stopp / 717 6h06min

Airtran Airways
FL 295 William B Hartsfield (ATL), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Terminal N 19:55
Hobby (HOU), Houston, Texas, USA 21:05
Non-Stopp / 717

Have fun in the States!

Patrick

Hi,

and thanks for the quick replies!
Well... have never flown on the 717 so far, so I guess it will be quite nice, even though I love the old DC-9...

@ Patrick : Fun? This is a business trip, however I managed to save the company some $$$ by booking on some more interesting carriers/aircraft than the usual UA 737-500 / CO 737-800 etc.... I intend to get the A318 and 737-900 as well enroute. So I would call this a win-win situation  Smile

Cheers,

Thomas

Correct, all 717s. We currently only have 3 DC-9s in the fleet, 936, 948 and 949, so it'd be a very slight chance you'd see any of them. I'm pretty sure the only scheduled DC-9 flight is flight 937 to JAX and its return 1796.

The DC-9s are now relegated to operational spares for the most part.

Oh, I thought you are flying to the USA for holidays. Anyway, it is nice that you get some interesting planes during your trip, I envy you for the 717 and especially for the 739 which is a really rare plane.

I wish you successful business talks!

Patrick

I noticed the post and decided to take a look and see the routings of our DC-9's for today. There are only two flying DC-9's left and neither are operating regular scheduled service. Gaddy...937/1796 is a 717 now.

Ship 936: 2115/2116 ATL-TLH-ATL (AirWis MX swap/upgrade)
Ship 949: 289/287/531/528 ATL-HOU-ATL-MEM-ATL (MX swap/downgrade)

Ship 948 ferried to MCO on 10/31 as 8948, and is gone for good.

I wondered what the a/c swap on ATL-TLH was this morning. I was over at the shop @ D-6 (I've been moved over to D) when I heard the agent ask for those with seat assignments in rows 5-9 to please come to the desk for new seat assignments. I thought maybe they subbed a 717 for the CRJ, but now I know what the swap was.

Thanks a lot for the additional information. So I understand that the chance for a DC-9 is very small.. well, let's see, I will also be happy with 2x 717!

Cheers,

Thomas

I understand that DC-9s fomr AirTran have been kept out of LGA intentionally for some time now.
