Hello all,

I just passed Stuttgart airport on the highway, when I saw D-ADIC taking off, a DBA B737-300. This aircraft was in the new green colours:

but unlike D-ADBV on the photo above, D-ADIC didn't have the "deutsche BA" titles on the tail - which makes sense, because they are no longer "Deutsche BA", just DBA since BA sold their shares.

I'm not sure if there were other minor livery changes, I was driving so I couldn't pay more attention on D-ADIC.

The aircraft must have been repainted recently, there is a photo of D-ADIC in the old colours from 18 October. As far as I know, D-ADIC is the first aircraft to wear the new colours without "deutsche BA" titles.

Now the question is, will this stick in people's minds that they're no longer Deutsche BA but just DBA...? It's always hard to change old habits, similar with American Trans Air and ATA.

Like NWA too - it will always be Northwest.

On the subject of the DBA livery - eueuwww - don't like it at all - hideous livid green. Not beautiful - the old BA-adapted livery with the German world-tails was much nicer.

...and it's still German Wings to me!

In their inflight magazine, DBA already tried several other versions what the three letters might stand for, e.g. "Die Bessere Alternative", "Das Beste Angebot", I proposed they should call themselves "Dieter Bohlen Airline". - Anyway, it won't be too difficult to update the livery on D-ADBV, D-ADID and D-ADIE (the three aircraft already in green livery but with "deutsche ba" titles), and I'm sure we'll see these three aircraft with updated livery soon.

I've read somewhere that Mr. Woehrl was contractually charged to change the meaning of "DBA" from "Deutsche BA" to something else. Weird for me however, was the permission to still use the DBA acronym.

Anyway, my (tongue in cheek) suggestion would be to interpret DBA as "Die Billig Airline" or maybe "Deutsche Billig Airline", although "billig" is rather derogative in German.

Seems like Jutta/Jumbolino already had the pleasure to fly on this bird, at least I found this photo in her trip report:

Looks like a tail-only repaint? I think I can still see where the Bavaria worldtail used to be, or is this just an illusion? Also see Jumbolino's report in the trip_reports forum.

Not bad for being able to see the registration then.  Laugh out loud
But seriously I doubt that this change will have an impact on the airlines image not being "DeutscheBA" anymore...
